English Shaun ebook

When a prisoner is incarcerated, family and loved ones also serve the sentence. But their's is a story that is rarely told. English Shaun is the story of a British family's anguish when a much-loved son and brother is arrested and imprisoned on the other side of the world.

Shaun Attwood, the author of Hard Time, came from a hard-working family who lived in the North of England. He emigrated from the UK to Arizona at the age of 21 and enjoyed astonishing success becoming a stock-market millionaire by the time he was 30. But he also threw rave parties, got involved in club drugs and lived a life of excess. He ended up in jail under the regime of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the self-proclaimed 'toughest Sheriff in America' whose jails have been condemned by Amnesty International.

This is the story told for the first time by Shaun's sister, Karen. It is a picture of a loving family devastated by the shocking turn of events, their distress compounded by the distance between them and the fact they had no real idea what had been going on in the US.

It follows Shaun and Karen from their happy childhood, through to their adult relationships and shows the huge impact that one person's actions can have on an entire family.

It also shows how during prison visits the family reconnect with Shaun and their love helps pull him back from the brink.
